Poetry and Tea

My name is Lisa and I am a writer of simple poetry (first drafts, not carefully crafted) and I love to share them with others. I have attended and shared my poems at a few open mic events before I became ill including one held at Wordworth’s home in Cockermouth, Cumbria, which felt very special.

I am living with chronic illness (ME/CFS) and have been since 2020, it was one of those events that crept up on me slowly and since then I have progressively got a little worse, thanks to not understanding what proper pacing was. I am now working towards recovery and finding a more realistic baseline.

I love a good cup of English Breakfast Tea and a nice sit down, even better when there is someone to chat to who enjoys the things I do, one of them being poetry!!

I began writing poetry about 10 years ago when I went experienced burnout, I found it a useful way of expressing myself when I had no energy to speak properly. I put it down for a long time when I recovered and picked it up again when I became ill with ME/CFS as a way of expressing my frustration with the illness, with the politics of the world and to remind myself of the beauty of nature.

I live in Liverpool, UK and have two grown up kids, I am married to the love of my life (2nd time of trying!) and I support Liverpool FC. I love reading, writing and watching movies and have recently discovered that I have (as yet undiagnosed) ADHD - which certainly has helped to explain a few things!! I am a member of the Green Party UK having once supported UK Labour until Kier Starmer ruined it and took it right wing, I am a socialist at heart and am keen to learn more about UK politics and how it affects people, especially now I am disabled.

I would love to connect with like-minded people so please do take a look at my page and get in touch if you would like to chat more!
