Great poem, Lisa. I’m with you, I know… I’m struggling a little at the moment, but my meds stop me from falling too far down. Like you I long to walk for miles, to do advanced , fun pilates moves like I used to, ride my horse. Writing poetry is so therapeutic ❤️ take care ❤️
This is so powerful, Lisa. I can so relate as I carry depression with me too and know the relief when it lifts for a while, sometimes for longer than just awhile, though it always circles back.
I’m sorry about the black mutt. Maybe you can trade him someday for a golden 🙂. I know he’s visited me several times when he’s gotten loose, but I stopped giving him treats, and he hasn’t come back (yet). He’s very needy and doesn’t want you to have a good time unless he’s there.
I hope you will do more writing and painting—it’s really good for the soul. Meds are OK, but friends and therapy are much better healers. We’re heading into the dark season, so make sure you get in the light as much as you can. Easy to say, I know, but it does help. I know it’s hard for you to find the energy. Also, make sure your vitamin D levels are good—deficiency also contributes to depression, a cause often overlooked.
Beautiful. I refer to my depression as "the pit," but "the black dog" is so powerful, because it does come with us everywhere (even when we think we left it at home). Thank you for sharing this.

Yes, thank god for pills!! Thank you, take care 💜
Great post, really feel this. So much harder to get rid of the dog when you can't walk it. At home with ME here too
Indeed! Thank you 😊

Thank you, I am sorry that it resonates for you too

Thanks Carole, I definitely am doing what I can to try and let the black dog go :)

Thanks Margaret, it really does follow us around doesn't it!
Cracking poem. I too am familiar with the one black dog.
Old not one. Lying down typing now and I’m not proficient
Lying down and typing is an art I have not yet mastered myself, you are forgiven!! ;)
Gives me arm ache.
